Who is Marques Haven?

So, you want to know about me, Marques Haven. Alrighty, as you can already see, I like expressing myself through words and photography. For the most part, it helps keep me rooted in all the sticky, uncomfortable, yet oh so beautiful things that make up my existence. However, somewhere along the way, I lost sight of that. My love of writing all but ceased, and my need to take pictures got submerged deep within my fear of being judged.

But, as fate would have it, I was recently reminded that what matters isn’t the need to feel validated by the wants and whims of others. What truly matters is how one feels about oneself. By the way, fate is just another way of saying God intervened. In my case, God gave me exactly what I asked for, just not in the way I had hoped. And in that, my faith is strengthened.

I know, it probably seems a little, well, blah, blah, blah. Nonetheless, I am recommitting myself to what makes me whole—the sticky, uncomfortable, yet oh so beautiful things that make up my existence. Yes, I know I said that before.

Anyway, through this website, I seek to capture images of things that move me and give voice to what I feel in a way that lets me breathe free and unencumbered. Makes sense? Alrighty then. Enjoy, but keep your judgments to yourself. Just saying 🙂
